An Evening with Damian Mackey & Hunter Island Whisky

Our first whisky event welcomes Damian Mackey, one of Tasmania’s true whisky pioneers and the founder of Hunter Island Whisky.
Damian has spent over two decades shaping Tasmania’s whisky story. Inspired by Ireland’s classic pot still tradition, he’s created a uniquely Tasmanian expression - using local grains, pristine water, and triple distillation to craft whiskies of remarkable depth and balance.
On the night, guests will enjoy six exceptional drams, including:
- Bourbon/Port Cask Matured Pot Still Whisky (48% ABV)
- Bourbon Matured Pot Still Whisky (48% ABV)
- Tawny Cask Matured Pot Still Whisky (46.9% ABV)
- Apera Cask Matured Pot Still Whisky (48% ABV)
- Sherry/Rum Cask Matured Pot Still Whisky (52% ABV)
- Hunter Island Poitín (50% ABV)

The following week, we welcome Battery Point Distillery, one of Hobart’s most respected boutique producers. Known for its attention to detail and exceptional cask finishes, Battery Point captures the spirit of Tasmania in every bottle.
Guests will enjoy a guided tasting with Head Distiller Luke Lawrence, of five handcrafted spirits:

- Shiraz Cask Whisky
- Port Cask Whisky
- Islay Cask Whisky
- Sloe Gin
From the richness of port and shiraz casks to the smoky intrigue of Islay oak and the vibrancy of their signature sloe gin, each pour reflects Battery Point’s mastery of small-batch distilling.
